HEARST MAGAZINES LAUNCHES “DESIGNER VISIONS: CINEMA STYLE” - Wednesday, 10/28/2009 5:02 AM
On Tuesday, October
13, 2009, Hearst magazines launched their third annual “Designer Visions”
program in Manhattan with renowned townhouse designers Thom
Filicia for “House Beautiful”, Richard
Mishaan for “Town & Country” and John
Saladino. At this year’s opening, the designers transformed the
contemporary condominium space, Soho Mews, into a cinema-inspired wonderland
based upon the films “The Big Chill”, “Dinner at Eight”, and “Girl with a Pearl Earring”.

Thom Filicia
This was the first of
a number of events to be held throughout December, including the presentation
of “Esquire” Magazine’s “Esquire Apartment”. Within a vast crowd of
designers, socialites and various others were a number of special guests
including Sela Ward, Pamela Fiori, Jonathan Adler, Lloyd Boston, Ted Gibson, Joyce
Varvatos, Ann Dexter Jones and Milly de Cabrol.

Within each space outfitted
by Gilt Group with clothing and
accessories, guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres
with a sprinkle of Hollywood flair. “House
Beautiful” featured southern-inspired étouffée-stuffed hushpuppies and spicy
remoulade, Old Bay nuts, pecan caramels, and special
“Cooper’s Cup” flower-essence cocktails inspired by “The Big Chill”.
“Town & Country”
provided classic cocktail fare inspired by “Dinner at Eight”, including
cheddar-filled lace “cigarettes”, deviled eggs with caviar and brandy-infused
bon bons. “Veranda” served luscious grilled figs with blue cheese and
“frizzled” prosciutto, aged Gouda
and grapes. plus mini cupcakes to capture the essence of “Girl with a Pearl
Earring”.
The “Designer Visions”
program is a residential development initiative in New York City that began just a few years ago
when the Hearst Corporation partnered with developer United American Land LLC and Corcoran
Sunshine Marketing Group. This year, they were proud to join with Fine Living Network, who will be airing
a special behind-the-scenes look at the “Designer Visions” residences. Ralph Lauren Paint and Kohler were the evening’s presenting
sponsors.
