On Thursday, October 22, 2009, the Smithsonian Institution: Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum held a gala to present the National Design Awards in a magically lit space at Cipriani 42nd Street (89 E 42nd St. NYC 10017 (212) 973-0999). A festive crowd arrived early to sip Champagne Pommery and cocktails preceding the benefit dinner and awards ceremony.
The evening was sponsored by Target, Saint-Gobain Advanced Ceramics, Channel 4 New York and Champagne Pommery.

Awards were presented to Bill Moggridge, Amory B. Tyler Florence Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum explores the influence of art, science, technology and history on design, which affects our daily lives. It is the only museum in the US solely committed to exploring historic and contemporary design.
