I MEAN...WHAT?!? BEST DRESSED OF THE EVENING AWARDS AT THE APOLLO CIRCLE BENEFIT - Monday, 11/16/2009 3:06 PM
Welcome to the softer side of "I Mean...What?!?" By Abe Gurko. When I was invited to join the Patrick McMullan family of bloggers, I thought it would be fun to fill the Mr. Blackwell void and determine the I Mean...What?!? Best Dressed of the Evening Awards. Since I don’t get invited to these glammy evenings (hence I do not own any gowns or a tuxedo for that matter), why not just pay homage to the people who go to great lengths to be lovely; especially those that make it look effortless. This is my first stab at being nice about these things, I normally have the Not Best Dressed List, and I must say, it’s almost fun. Anyhoo, here are my five favorite ladies of the evening...oh, you know what I mean.

Kate Lanphear
The fifth runner up is Kate Davidson Hudson. Not be be confused with Kate Hudson (actress), who is also blonde and similarly built. This sleek pastel look is stunning, however, somehow the hair color and make up was almost too washed out. Maybe it’s the picture. But she is fierce either way.

In fourth place is Lauren Santo Domingo. Talk about effortless. Looks like she dashed out the door in fifteen minutes, freshly showered, from a day of work (is she still at Vogue or is she the new Grace Kelly from where ever)? I refuse to say that “nude is the new black” but it sure is having a moment.

Third up we have Kate Lanphear who rocked the black ball gown with a touch of True Blood edge. This girl is cool.

In second place is Amanda Hearst with her timeless Veronica Lake meets Uptown Girl elegance. Is it a tad too fancy? Maybe, but she looks lovely either way.

The winner is Meredith Melling-Burke. Effortless, hip, elegant, every adjective you’d want...oh, and beautiful. 2 snaps up!

Honorable mention has to go to the host of the evening Carolina Herrera, however, she was not photographed without her coat, but the color was perfect for her (take note Kate).
