To mark the launch of The New School's MFA in Fashion Design and Society, Parson's presented an evening with alumna Donna Karan in conversation with Valerie Steele, chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. The featured guest are both seasoned veterans of the fashion world, with Dona Karan's highly successful DKNY brand and Steele as editor-in-chief of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body and Culture (Berg Publishers). These two women have been able to grab hold of not only power but also influence in what is usually a male-dominated industry. Through the use of their feminine instincts, their heightened and unique perspective that has made them the successful women that they are today.
