The Literacy Partners hosted their 26th annual Evening of Readings pre-Gala kick-off event at Michael's Restaurant on Monday Evening. The evening, hosted by Liz Smith, brought together some of New York's most prominent society members along with significant figures from the world of entertainment, publishing, fashion and media. The gala benefit goes to help Literacy Partners continue to provide high-quality, free, community-based adult family literacy programs to New York City residence. This year's gala honorees will include Barbara Taylor Bradford, best selling author, and filmmaker Robert Bradford. The Gala will also feature readings by Sara Gruen, Pulitzer Prize winning author David Finkel and best selling author Mary Karr. Over the last 35 years, Literacy Partners has helped thousands of New Yorkers learn the basic reading, writing and math skills needed in day-to-day living. Other Guests in attendance were Glenn Plaskin, Cornelia Bregman, Ellen Scarborough, John Berendt, Ed Rollins, Tony Cointreau and Jim Russo.
