On Thursday, Red, the 1950's era play based in New York, opened at the Golden Theatre to a packed crowd of A-listers and theater enthusiasts. The Domnar Warehouse production, which just transferred from a run in London's acclaimed West End, stars Alfred Molina along side Eddie Redmayne. The play tells that story of artist Mark Rothko receiving the world's largest commission to create a series of murals for the Four Seasons restaurant in the new Seagram building on Park Avenue. Under the watchful eye of his young assistant Ken (Eddie Redmayne) and the threatening presence of a new generation of artists. With the commission Rothko faced his greatest challenge of producing a definitive work while struggling to accept his fame and growing riches.
