JOANNA MASTROIANNI Fall 2011 Fashion Show - Tuesday, 2/22/2011 2:38 PM

Runway

On Thursday, Feb 17th Joanna Mastroianni showed her Fall 2011 Collection in the building of her West 30 something showroom. Possibly the most well-executed show of the season, it is no surprise that Mastorianni showed the final day of New York's famed Fashion Week.

The collection, inspired by iconic American Photographer Lillian Bassman, is particularly exciting. Mastroianni focused on Lillian's fantastic black and white photographs, many of them taken during her tenure at "Harpers Bazaar". Mastroianni turned them into a glorious, glamorous, feminine collection of one-of-a kind garments.

Carol Alt and Iris Apfel

For the self-assured woman, who is "meticulously elegant", the collection is comprised of classic black and white looks fused with vibrant metallics. Standouts include a black double-faced wool dress with cut-out windows and leather harness, a silver matte lycee draped cowl dress and a white draped deep v-neck gown that could easily double as a splendid summer wedding dress.

It should be noted that every aspect of the production, from backstage use of makeup industry great Charlie Green to front of house musical stylings of upbeat swing, courtesy of Kevin Edwards, was flawless.

A final treat was the impressive list of attendees that included, among others, Iris Apfel, Carmen Dell' Orefice, Carol Alt, Beverly Johnson, Kick Kennedy (a daughter of Robert Kennedy Jr.) and Alice Judelson.

Patrick, Thank You ! Its always a blessing when someone notices the work you do.Though I am most happy for Joanna (whom I love). She is an incredible talent. Once again , THANK YOU.
