Scalamandré Hosts Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Party - Friday, 12/2/2011 4:36 PM

New York, NY… Scalamandré the legendary decorative fabric, wallcovering and trimmings house, rolled out its zebra carpet for a holiday party to celebrate the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club’s Showhouse benefit committees, designers and friends. Over 200 guests were there to support this beloved organization and to toast the upcoming 40th anniversary of the Decorator Show House.

Steven Stolman, Scalamandré’s president, welcomed guests to the company’s iconic East Side townhouse, where everyone was literally surrounded by extraordinary prints, damasks and brocades. Dan Quintero, executive director of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, spoke movingly about Kips Bay’s mission and introduced its new president, Jim Druckman, the popular and highly regarded president and CEO of the New York Design Center at 200 Lexington Avenue.

Among the guests were a host of friends, design luminaries, press and industry insiders, including Alexandra Lebenthal, Jay Diamond, Sylvester and Gillian Miniter, Margaret Russell, Mario Buatta, Gary Crain, Douglas and Sonia Bendt, Anne Mott, Anne Monoky, Suzy Slesin, Newell Turner, Charles Pavarini III, Susan and Scott Gress, Jayne Chase, Marjorie Gage, Judith Nasatir, Pat Grever, Victoria Lindgren, Lori Laub, Don Schermerhorn, Scott Sanders, Keith Carroll, James Andrews, Dennis Rolland, Barbara Ostrom, Joy Licht, Ronald Bricke, Tori Mellott, Ed Ku, Etienne Coffinier, Gerald Tolomeo, Roderick Shade, Patrick Murphy, Debralee Nelson, and David Sheppard.

The mission of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club is to improve and enhance the quality of young people’s lives in New York City and to help them realize and achieve their potential. The Kips Bay Decorator Show House, the nation’s premiere showcase for fine design, raises critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs.
