Cocktails at the 29th Annual Calvary Hospital Gala Awards - Tuesday, 6/19/2012 4:25 PM

As every year, the Pierre Hotel was the perfect setting of the Calvary Hospital Gala Awards-- the 29th Annual Calvary Hospital Gala Awards. This year's honoree was American Express Vice Chairman Ed Gilligan with Mary and William Buckley, Diahn W. and Thomas McGrath, and Kathleen and Stratford Wallace are Gala Co-Chairs. John A. Decina, AIA, Chief Executive Officer, Barr & Barr, Inc. and Dennis M. Schneider, President, Transervice Lease Corp. as Journal Co-Chairs.

The cocktail hour meant a grand ballroom that was quickly filled by Calvary Hospital sponsors, workers, and supporters all dressed in near black tie regalia and happily enjoying the delicious hors d'ourveres ranging from chilled shrimp and sushi to a lavish charcuterie accompanied by a multitude of cocktails. In the background the sounds of Straight Ahead Jazz lead by Guitarist Jeremiah Crowley filled the air.

During cocktails we spoke with Ed Gilligan, Vice Chairman, American Express Company will receive The Calvary Medal in recognition of his distinguished corporate and civic leadership and outstanding philanthropic commitment to the Calvary mission.

Gilligan a first year attendee became involved through a colleague who sits on the Calvary Hospital board. Gilligan shared his thoughts on the evening, "I think this evening is about... helping this institution who does so much to help other people. It's a fantastic culture an incredible place a very special place, and its not just helping the people who are afflicted with disease its really taking care of the families."

Additionally, we spoke with Calvary Hospital Cancer Care Technician Lydia Bell has been an employee for 37 and half years and loves her job at Calvary shared what keeps here there. "I love to take care of the patients, I love the unity with our workers, we take good care of our patients, we're special, and nowhere else has this blessing and we have a lot of blessings at Calvary."

The main festivities for the black-tie gala soon after commenced at 6:30 pm . Broadway’s Melissa Errico was said to give a special performance along with Master of Ceremonies John R. Gambling, Host of WOR’s The John Gambling Show.

Support levels for the evening were as follows: Tables sold at $50,000, $25,000, $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500 and individual tickets were made available for $5,000, $2,500, $1,000 and $750.
