RH CONTEMPORARY ART Opening and Dinner - Saturday, 11/9/2013 5:02 PM

Restoration Hardware has entered New York’s art world with not a whimper but a shout, unveiling its new five story gallery planted in Chelsea’s art district, RH Contemporary Art, to the city’s powerplayers, social and art elite; and judging by their flawless execution of simplicity and taste overshadowing the excess, this marks the beginning of not a name but a brand in art. Each floor held its own solo exhibition with all demonstrating a clear cohesion of theme, style and aesthetic, bringing all five floors into compliment of each other.

The artists exhibited – Natasha Wheat, Peter Demos, Samantha Thomas, Toby Christian and Nathan Baker – along with the owner and curator, Gary Friedman, were on hand to revel in the crowd’s positivity towards all their hard work and vision. Guests began the journey on the first floor, greeted by a red carpet, champagne, wine and delectable hors d’oeuvres before being whisked up to the fifth floor and making their decent to each exhibit below, mixing among the beautiful art on the walls and gorgeous faces in the room.

The evening ended with an invitation-only dinner at West Village’s prized Lion restaurant. Here, RHCA’s friends and family mingled about the Lion’s old New York atmosphere; being treated to not only delicate eats and fine wines, but special performances by rising young groups, Larkin Park and The Brickstons, in between intimate sets spun by DJ Alexandra Richards. Tonight was truly an occasion of mark and merit.
