Donna Karan 30th Anniversary - Friday, 2/14/2014 8:09 PM

Bold furs, striking trenches, thigh high boots and elegant, to near liquid, evening gowns pouring down the body were the focus for Donna Karan’s latest collection as the fashion elite and celebrities alike descended upon Wall St. for Donna Karan’s 30th Anniversary Fashion Show. Set in an interior stripped bare to its steel structure, the three power colors – black, white and red – dictated the night’s powerfully dramatic mood, evoking a sexy, totalitarian like fantasy world.

Newcomer Kate Grigorieva frontlined the show, leading Devon Windsor and Nastya Sten as the three marched single file, abruptly stopping halfway down the runway, arresting their authority over a sitting mass that included, Katie Holmes, Hugh Jackman, Rita Ora, Rachel Weisz, Grace Coddington, Bernadette Peters, Deborra Lee-Furness, Eva Hermes and Tatiana Sorokko. This militia of three then promptly marched on, followed directively by an army of femme fatales with the likes of Karlie Kloss, Karen Elson, Hilary Rhoda and Karolina Kurkova, who lead up the rearline in a spellbinding air of superiority. With the final walk through, the crowd uproariously rushed to their feet in unanimous adoration as the sartorial spell lifted, leaving Donna Karan wiping away tears.

The tightly guarded after-party, held at the Stephen Weiss Studio, was one of decorum as the industry came to pay their respects to Mrs. Karan, whom approachably kept to the corner couches surrounded by her inner circle, Russell Simmons and Rita Ora. As midnight neared, an intimate few quietly moved upstairs. Those lucky enough to have been made privy retired within the comforts of the fireplace enjoying crisp champagne and delectable desserts.
