Harper's Bazaar Party - Monday, 9/15/2014 10:41 PM

Set in the storied Plaza Hotel ballroom, the Carine Roitfeld hosted event brought a veritable who's who from within the fashion and entertainment world to celebrate her book, Icons: a profile of 19 legendary women the likes of Lady Gaga, Linda Evangelista and Brooke Shields- all of whom attended the party.

The decadent set buzzed about the room in anticipation of a special performance by Lady Gaga, which, much to manys surprise and chagrin, was a continuation of her newfound, yet slow to catch, jazz focused career turn. Those spotted enjoying the songstress included designers Jason Wu, Donatella Versace, B. Michael, Jenna Lyons, Gareth Pugh and Jeremy Scott, with their backs turned while guests snuck out for a cigarette or cab into the bright lights of New York.

Nicki Minaj arrived, unfashionably late, catalyzing uproar on the red carpet in the midst of Gaga's set - knowing Nicki, this was probably premeditated. Minaj was feted alongside newfound fashion buddy, Lauren Hutton, and manager, Scott Lipps, in the nucleus of her security dome.

Victoria's secret stunners Alessandra Ambrosio and Lindsay Ellingson were spotted with a couple of the luckiest men alive, husbands Jamie Mazur and Sean Clayton; while fellow Angels, Karolina Kurkova, Karlie Kloss and Alek Wek had many a gentlemen stirring in hopes of joining the ranks of Mazur and Clayton. Others in attendance were newly minted New York socialite brothers, Harry and Peter Brant Jr., linking arms with playboy Stavros Niarchos III, his date model Jessica Hart, and Derek Blasberg, all surrounded by a bevy of beauties.

The otherwise flawless event naturally had one frequent complaint: bulging carpets causing many "almost" catastrophes. But when Carine asks for black carpeting over the already installed rugs, you must oblige, despite the consequences.

As the evening was winding down, Carine Roitfeld exited with a big smile on her face - this was a highly successful night and she knew it.
