Basketball stars, celebrities and corporate sponsors came out yesterday for the 8th Annual iStar Charity Shootout at Madison Square Garden to raise money for four special charities: Baby Buggy, Human Rights First, Robin Hood and Teach for America. The mission of iStar is to actively broaden awareness and increase charitable contributions for existing non-profit organizations that are committed to human rights, youth and family sustainability and education. The foundation's aim is to end poverty and to preserve human dignity through the irradication of social injustice through fundraising. In attendance were Jay Sugarman, Toney Douglas, David Lee, Lane Carlson, Bruce Beck, Jennifer Ohlsson and Alejandra Cata.

On Monday night at Zeze Flowers, Susan Isaacs celebrated the release of her book titled  As Husbands Go. In the story John and Susie Gerstein live the stereotypically perfect life with three beautiful children and a wonderful house on Long Island. The picture perfect life is shattered however, when John, a successful plastic surgeon in Manhattan is found dead in the apartment of a high priced hooker. What is merely brushed away as scandal by the police doesn't sit well with Susan and it becomes her mission to not only clear her husband but reassure herself in their love.

Those in attendance included creative directors, art directors, art buyers, photographers, Illustrators and all individuals who produce images and events. Elie Tahari hosted the opening party for Equus, Friday night at his East Hampton location. The Play, starring Alec Baldwin, puts the actor in a role which he hasn't been seen in, in quite a while. His portrayal of Dr. Martin Dysart is dark and mythic and has received rave reviews.  The award-winning Peter Shaffer play, directed by Tony winner Tony Walton, is playing at East Hampton's John Drew Theatre at Guild Hall through July 3rd. The story about the bewildering crime of a teen-age boy also stars Sam Underwood as Alan Strang and features Kathleen McNenny.

On Saturday night at the home of Chad A. Leat, guests came together at a beautiful fundraiser for God's Love We Deliver. God's Love We Deliver cooks and delivers over 3,400 meals every weekday to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease and all serious illnesses. Their mission is to always be there for sick friends and neighbors in need. There is no waiting list and they never charge for meals. Guests enjoyed drinks and hors d'oeuvres while soaking in the beautiful weather and escape from the city. Tickets started at $300 going all the way up to $5000 for co-hosts.

Patti Smith, known as the "Godmother of Punk," headlined Henry Buhl's Black and White Ball for A.C.E. last night at the Edison Ballroom. A.C.E. Programs for the Homesless, an organization that enables NYC's homeless men and women to re-enter the workforce, and achieve long-term self-sufficiency celebrated it's founders birthday with music, appearances by Countess Luann de Lesseps, Dr. Ruth Westheimer and Curtis Sliwa and, of course a wonderful burlesque show. After all, it was a birthday!

On Thursday night at the Mariott Marquis the Songwriters Hall of Fame celebrated there 2010 Gala.  This years inductees included Leonard Cohen, Jackie DeShannon, David Foster, Johnny Mandel and Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice white, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Larry Dunn and Al McKay. It is the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s ongoing mission to celebrate and honor the contributions of our great popular music songwriters who have written the soundtrack for our nation’s history, while developing new writing talent through workshops, showcases, scholarships and digital initiatives. Established in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame honors those whose work represents a spectrum of the most beloved songs from the world’s popular music songbook.

On Thursday Bill Paley celebrated the re-launch of La-Palina, the storied cigar brand famously linked  to the early and fortuitous beginnings of CBS Broadcasting founded by Bill's Father, William S. Paley. The event at Empire Hotel, Pool & Deck featured cocktails, canapes and cigars introduced the "1896" cigar series, fittingly dedicated to Paley's great grandfather Sam who founded the Congress Cigar Company in that sames year. La Palina, Which literally translates to "female Paley" was named after Sam's wife Goldie Drell Paley, and was the companies most fashionable brand. The sunset party included such guests as Alexandra Lebenthal, Sara Arnell, Aaron Sigmond and Bree Mortimer.

Like the Yves Saint Laurent Opium party back in 1978 at the South Street Seaport, the 2010 launch for their newest fragrance was a similarly glamorous and international event. The premiere for the fragrance, which will launch this fall, was a hight tech experience complete with stirring holograms and mesmerizing music that brought to life the dance by French actress Melanie Thierry, and celebrated choreographer, Akram Kahn. The event at the YSL stage in New York City also featured a Alexa Chung and Alexandra Richards curated iTunes mix inspired by the event. The party was packed to the gills with artists, music and society types with the floor space designed flawlessly. And yes, everyone smelled very nice. The Stonewall Community Foundation held their 20th Anniversary Gala last night a Vista 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza. The 2010 Stonewall Vision Dinner was a dazzling cross-section of New York LGBTQ movers and shakers representing the worlds of entertainment, fashion, finance and politics. Jerry Mitchell was honored for his tireless support of Broadway Cares Equity Fight Aids and other organizations that serve the LGBTQ community. The Stonewall Community Foundation strengthens the LGBTQ
community from within, empowers donors, supports community leadership and builds dynamic organizations. We do this by inspired and thoughtful giving; leadership and community development; and legacy development through endowments, scholarships, trusts and funds.Since inception in 1990, Stonewall Community Foundation has awarded more than $15 million in grants to more than 400 organizations.

SVA Theater was a buzz last night for the New York Premiere of I Am Love, the new Luca Guadagnino film starring Tilda Swinton, Marisa Berenson, Waris Ahluwalia and director Luca Guadagnino. The project, co-produced Tilda Swinton, took seven years to complete and is the stylish story of a wealthu Milanese family who live in a beautiful, carefully ordered world. Swinton plays the matriarch of a wealthy, distinguished industrial family when a chance encounter ignites her long repressed passions and sets he ron a journey of glorious awakening. In attendance were Alexis Bledel, Amy Landecker, Bill Powers, Drew Nierporent, Jennifer Missoni, Esti Ginzburg and Lisalla Montenegro.

Last night at 154 Orchard St., Annie Havlicek, native Chicagoan and Parsons School of Design graduate, celebrated the opening of her new clothing store. Her collection, which was inspired by Renoir's paintings, ballances classical beauty with artistic destinciton, borrows themes and personality from some of  New York's trendsetting neighborhoods like the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. The store on Orchard St carries her Spring/Summer 2010 collection along with Brixton Hats, Osborn Shoes, jewelry, antiques and an assortment of soaps, perfumes and candles. The store itself is sleek and high-end with antique elements giving it a sort of homegrown and organic feel and the door on the fitting room is actually from Annie's childhood home.

Samsung raised $1.2 million towards children's health and education efforts during their 9th Annual Four Seasons of Hope Gala last night at Cipriani Wall Street. The event was hosted by Regis Philbin and featured special performances Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony who have been everywhere the last couple days. Samsung Hope for Children was developed with a strategic focus on programs dedicated to helping children live, learn and thrive. The effort was designed to emphasize Samsung's long-standing commitment of raising notional awareness and funds for deserving foundations, hospitals and schools that make a noticeable difference in communities. Bryan Batt was at the Interior Design Building last night for an open showroom event with the premier furnishing and antique dealers to mingle and sign copies of his new book She Ain't Heavy, She's My Mother. Some of the best stories Mad Men's Bryan Batt has to share are about his mother, and his new book frees them into the world as he invites audiences into his New Orleans childhood. His memoirs cover his family upbringing through good times and bad, up and down. Batt was born for theatre and it's presence in his life started as an extremely young age. As an adult he acted in such shows as Cats, and in the theatre and film versions of Jeffrey. But the stories aren't  about his successes as much as his mother's encouragement, support, and quirkiness throughout all of it.

Colombian-born designer Brian Reyes and Ballet Hispanico Director Eduardo Vilardo welcomed guests to Reyes' studio Monday night for the Junior Society Dance into Fashion Benefit that featuring Reyes' upcoming collection. Reyes, while relatively new to the New York fashion scene, has dressed such stars as Jennifer Garner and Kate Hudson. The Ballet Hispanico was founded in 1970 and since its inception its dancers have roused audiences worldwide with their magnetic energy and electric choreography. The group fuses Latin elements of classical and contemporary forms to create a new sphere of concert dance. The School celebrates Latin culture and provides opportunities to celebrate not only it's bright past, but its promising future.
