The Cinema Society and Sony Alpha Nex hosted a screening last night of Get Low, featuring Robert Duvall, at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. For years, townsfolk have been terrified of the backwoods recluse known as Felix Bush. People say he’s done all manner of unspeakable things — that he’s killed in cold blood; that he’s in league with the Devil; that he has strange powers — and they avoid him like the plague. Then, one day, Felix rides to town with a shotgun and a wad of cash, saying he wants to buy a funeral. It’s not your usual funeral for the dead Felix wants. On the contrary, he wants a ‘living funeral,’ in which anyone who ever had heard a story about him will come to tell it, while he takes it all in. Duvall's outstanding performance is supported Bill Murray Sissy Spacek and Lucas Black ... Read More

During his many years in Manhattan, Gruen-critic, author, and keen cultural observer-has moved with ease among dancers, musicians, playwrights, and poets. He seems, however, to have reserved a special interest in painters and sculptors. Through the years, Gruen has managed to capture many of them in his photographs. But if you're going for that, it can work. Take Courtney Love for example, although I don't think that was the makeup because she most likely had actually just gotten in a fight, all the time. Noel Ashman celebrated his birthday last night at Lucky Strike with a number of celebrities and athletes there to welcome in his next year.  Noel's story is one of almost every club owner in New York, their ups are as plentiful as their downs, but in the end, God was it a good time. His first venture was hot spot Veruka which was a regular hangout for a number of actors Sean Penn, Affleck and many of the New York Yankees (Jeter comes to mind). The club eventually went the way of the buffalo and he was then involved in the new Studio 54, NA and Plumm. So many clubs and still so young. Here's to you Noel. Cheers!
