On a cold winter evening, there is nothing more pleasurable than reserving a table at Bistro Chat Noir, a relaxed dining room filled with an UES crowd. Located just off Madison Avenue, in a landmarked townhouse, my art dealer friend and I enjoyed an ecclectic menu of baby ravioli, Chat Noir salad, succulent sea scallops mixed with a melange of vegetables and anchovies, truffle-flavored french fries, and an incomparable merengue-topped bagatelle, washed down with Prosecco.

We certainly plan another visit soon for the Sunday brunch of buckwheat crepes filled with French ham and gruyere.

When the weather warms, there is also outdoor dining.

Descending the staircase into a sea of French bluebloods and Francophiles, chatting in French and English, who had gathered to honor businessman Paul Desmarais Jr. and sublime chef Alain Ducasse, I spotted Sirio Maccioni, Michele Gerber Klein, Daniel Boloud and Stanley Tucci with his friend and fellow-actor Patricia Clarkson. They were all enjoying a champagne and foie gras canapé reception.

During dinner, the glittering crowd enthusiastically bid on trips to France, Morocco and the Dominican Republic. The lucky winners are packing as I write.

Save the dates, Oct. 11-14, 2012 so you won't miss the often sold-out culinary offerings.

ARTBASEL MIAMI ANNIVERSARY:

Flew south to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ArtBasel Miami along with some 50,000 collectors, art lovers and world travelers, whose art awareness is less than zero, but their need to socialize knows no bounds.

In- between visits to endless galleries and a dozen satellite fairs offering works in every style, quality and price range, I managed to attend "Interview" Magazine's screening of Warhol's "San Diego Surf", a never-before-seen film at a V.I.P.cocktail party. The crowd of internationals, including the Warhol Museum's Eric Shiner, the ... Read More
