I can always appreciate a good performance. Art is Art. But it has to be real art, none of this interpretive dance or painting a wall orange and then watching the beret army stare at it for hours trying to figure out why no one in high school liked them. I need something substantial, something that grabs me in its muscular grasp and shake me like a can of lavender paint. I don't need the flash bang of pyrotechnics but something that shows expertise and real emotion.

To me, politics is like a second language. Not like Latin or French, but like "House Keeper" or "Cab Driver." I get the gist of it, I make assessments, but in the end, do I really care whether my Club Monaco shirts go to Majestic Cleaners on 75th or Dunhill a few blocks north?  So I get politics, I just feel that there are more pertinent things in my life, and I can't get all worked up about them like the angry guy in Union Square who said that Barack Obama was like Hitler.
