I can always appreciate a good performance. Art is Art. But it has to be real art, none of this interpretive dance or painting a wall orange and then watching the beret army stare at it for hours trying to figure out why no one in high school liked them. I need something substantial, something that grabs me in its muscular grasp and shake me like a can of lavender paint. I don't need the flash bang of pyrotechnics but something that shows expertise and real emotion.

To me, politics is like a second language. Not like Latin or French, but like "House Keeper" or "Cab Driver." I get the gist of it, I make assessments, but in the end, do I really care whether my Club Monaco shirts go to Majestic Cleaners on 75th or Dunhill a few blocks north?  So I get politics, I just feel that there are more pertinent things in my life, and I can't get all worked up about them like the angry guy in Union Square who said that Barack Obama was like Hitler. And I'm like, "Wow! Haven't the Jews been through enough!?" Then the guy said Obama's health care plan was 'Hitler-esque'. "Ohhhhhh," I said, "Well, what was Hitler's heath care plan like?"
