On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, El Museo Del Barrio held a dinner for their benefactors to celebrate the grand opening and preview of their inaugural
exhibitions. An elegant and colorful crowd gathered at long tables in their Fifth Avenue location for cocktails, dinner and entertainment.
 
 
Guests were treated to a live Spanish guitar performance and, also, a full band. Bacardi drinks were plentiful with a large selection of their various spirits available at the bar. At dinner, guests were also addressed by Dr. JuliánZugazagoitia, director and CEO of El

On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, Calypso St. Barth and Physique 57 celebrated the launch of their new Physique 57 DVD workout series. A well-toned crowd gathered at the Calypso St. Barth Flagship Store in New York City to support health, fitness and fashion.

Bloomingdale’s teams with Young Indies Films, LLC to create BFLIX, a new and innovative approach to advertising through short films. Young writers and directors take center stage this fall as Bloomingdale’s commissioned five filmmakers to show their shorts throughout the store’s retail locations.


The films, all three to five minutes in length, were all shot in New York and cover generational relationships and romance. They are a way to supplement Bloomingdale’s Fall fashion campaign entitled “Light’s; Cameras; Fashion”. In its partnership with Young Indies Films. LLC, Bloomingdale’s is taking steps to nurture independent films, up and coming directors and reach out to its customers through a different artistic medium.

Saks Fifth Avenue CEO Steve Sadove and Evelyn Lauder hosted an intimate luncheon as Café SFA to kick off the Key to a Cure Shopping Weekend. The shopping weekend takes place from October 15th to the 18th at all Saks retail stores nationwide and online at saks.com.  


The purpose of this event is to raise money for women’s charities, both nationally and locally. A percentage of the weekend’s sales will be donated to various charities and Saks will also donate $500,000 to Evelyn Lauder’s Breast Cancer Research Foundation. On Monday October 5, 2009 Ne-Yo, Alfani Red and “GQ” hosted a benefit for The Compound Foundation. A stylish crowd packed the Stephen Weiss Studio in the West Village around 7pm and kept kickin’ into the early evening.


Served during the lively night were fancy hors d’ouvres, including tuna tartar, thai beef spring rolls and chicken satay, washed down by enticing cocktails provided by Asian-inspired TyKu liquor. The overall feeling was more like a club than a benefit.

On Monday October 5, 2009, Michelin Guides Director Jean-Luc Naret hosted an event for the 5th anniversary of the Michelin Guide New York City, which was launching its 2010 edition on October 6. Some of the world’s top chefs and culinary inspirations gathered on a garden terrace high above Rockefeller Center, overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral, to celebrate.

The scene was an iconic New York-inspired blend of haute fashion and street couture. Though the guests sported such finery as cocktail dresses and silk ascots, sipped top shelf cocktails and chatted in French-accented English, the tables were topped by candleholders fashioned like blue paper coffee cups, the DJ was sneaker-clad and a real Nuts 4 Nuts stood across from the terrace bar.
