On Monday, November 23, 2009, The American Friends of the Paris Opera & Ballet (AFPOB) held its 25th Anniversary Dinner and Recital at the Consulate General of France in Manhattan. The evening, hosted by Philippe Lalliot and Laurence Folliot-Lalliot and the Board of Trustees of the AFPOB, gathered a distinguished crowd for a special recital by Jason S. Bridges, accompanied on piano by Kevin Murphy. Special thanks to Resa and Heiner Sussner for their generous gift, which initiated a fund to train and develop young singers such as Bridges.


A wonderful French meal featuring langoustines, veal and an assortment of pastries paired with two wines, Chablis Domaine Lamblin 2008 and Medoc Chateau de Laujac 2005. Guests complimented both Chef de Cuisine Stephane Verdille and Maitre d'Hotel Xavier Thibaud on the enjoyable presentation.

Grand Opening of the 2009 WIRED STORE

On Friday, November 20, 2009, Wired Magazine opened the doors to its newest Wired Store in Manhattan's Meatpacking/Highline District. More than 1400 people arrived to celebrate the opening including Chris Noth, Alexis Bledel, Anthony Mackie, Ben Lyons, Gavin DeGraw and Scott Adsit.


The store offers guests over 250 items on display such as tech, home goods, clothes, toys, and games, and will be host for a number of unique social events. It also boasts a one-of-a-kind interactive mural designed in collaboration with Moby. He played DJ for the opening party, a "green section" curated by Adrian Grenier,  a gaming area curated by Tony Hawk and the debut of the "One Wired Wish" program, which displays holiday wishes from a number of celebrities.

On Thursday, November 19, 2009, the Little Baby Face Foundation held its seventh annual benefit, "Believe in Miracles VII" at the New York Athletic Club on Central Park South in Manhattan. More than 300 guests gathered for cocktails and a buffet dinner to honor Dr. Deborah Pilla, a dedicated member of the foundation's Medical Advisory Board. A video was screened highlighting her work providing dental evaluations to the children at the foundation. Many of the foundation's patients attended including some from Morocco, Greece, Ecuador and Staten Island, NY.

The Little Baby Face Foundation provides corrective surgery for children born with facial deformities, nationally and worldwide, regardless of a family's ability to pay. For more information, visit www.littlebabyface.org.

On Thursday, November 19, 2009, The French American Foundation held its annual fund raising gala at Manhattan's debonair Capitale. The event was hosted by Ambassador of France to the United States Pierre Vimont, Consul General of France Philippe Lalliot and the foundation's Board of Directors. This year gathered an accomplished crowd of international liaisons, business leaders and social authorities to honor Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of the Renault Nissan Alliance, and Arthur A. Hartman, former US Ambassador to France and the Soviet Union, for their efforts to strengthen French-American business relations.



Drinks and hors d'oeuvres were served including delicately smoked salmon dolloped with a dreamy cream sauce on thinly sliced cucumber. Following the reception, TV host and emcee for the evening Kate Snow invited guests to join her in the reception hall for Dinner.

Guests mingled with Amanda Hearst, Tinsley Mortimer, Shannon Elizabeth and Sara Gore as they nibbled on a variety of adorably decorated mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa and sipped Rated X and other beverages provided by Skyy Vodka.

On Tuesday November 17, 2009 The Museum of Art and Design (MAD) held Visionaries! 2009, its Annual Gala and Award Ceremony to celebrate outstanding individuals in the arts, at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan. This year, longtime patron of the arts and MAD's Chairman of the Board Barbara Tober, Chairman of Ogilvy and Mather Worldwide Shelly Lazarus and Eva Zeisel, one of the foremost designers of the 20th century, were honored for their extraordinary achievements and contributions to arts, design and industry.

On Monday, November 9, 2009, Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, in association with RVCA (Artist Network Program) unveiled "The Martus Maw", an exhibition of new works by emerging French artist Nicholas Pol, in an old meat market turned gallery in downtown New York. LEGENDS 2009: A PRATT INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP BENEFIT

On Thursday, October 29, 2009, Pratt Institute held Legends: 2009, its largest annual scholarship benefit, gathering over 400 guests at a space in lower Manhattan’s 7 World Trade Center (250 Greenwich St. NYC 10007). Fashion designer Marc Jacobs, who donned a red plaid kilt, architect and designer David Rockwell and artist Patti Smith were honored for representing Pratt’s values.
 


 
Patti Smith treated guests to a special performance during the reception, that included cocktails provided by Brooklyn Brewery and Maker’s Mark.  This was followed by dinner and a presentation ceremony.

On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, The Central Park Conservancy held their annual Twilight Halloween Ball in Mid-Central Park at 72nd Street. The highly anticipated “non-traditional black-tie” gala is the premiere celebration of the season, if not all seasons.


 
Freaks and freakettes arrived early in hauntingly fantastic costumes, many of whom hoped to be selected as finalists for the evening’s costume contest. Winners in various categories were awarded with luxury prizes by a panel of celebrity judges including Tory Burch, Lois Chiles, Harold Koda, Marina Rust Connor and Todd Alexander Romano. The evening was emceed by WABC’s Lee Goldberg.

The elegant space was packed with guests who enjoyed the cocktail reception and silent auction, followed dinner and an awards ceremony. On Friday, October 23, 2009, Gucci celebrated the opening of their Gucci Icon-Temporary store on Crosby St. in SoHo. The store, a chic white box splashed with red and green webbed striping, is the first of a number of “flash” or short-term stores opening in select locations worldwide featuring Gucci’s limited edition Gucci Ronson sneakers.

On Thursday, October 22, 2009, Animal Care and Animal Planet co-hosted a fun filled evening of food, drinks and furry friends for the 2nd annual ANIMAL CARE Gala held at Pacha NYC (618 W 46th St. NYC 10036 (212) 209-7500). On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, L.L. Bean gave a special sneak preview of its Spring 2010 collection to a select crowd at the Hosfelt Gallery, NYC. L.L. Bean’s signature models were covered from head to toe in les colours du printemps. Bright stripes and pleasant plaids, in hues of yellow, red and blue, allowed guests to forget the browning trees and plunging mercury outside, if only for a time.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, Bloomingdale’s opened their doors for the launch of a dynamic new floor at their 59th Street location. Bloomingdale’s Chairman and CEO Michael Gould briefly addressed the crowd before treating the lucky guests to an early morning breakfast.
 


 
Along the lavish black and white corridors, teams greeted visitors from the various vendors, their dazzling stations glistening from floor to ceiling with freshly stocked items.



 
Among the variety of goods, it was apparent that the store is, itself, very handsome. It is well-designed and beautifully decorated and even features a large fish tank.
 




Guests were entertained with a ribbon dance performed within the store’s halls.
