Who else is in the holiday spirit? I am! Just give me an excuse to shop and I don't even care if it's not for me. I am just in a giving type of mood. I just wanna give and give and give some more! I give sound advice, I give change to the army veterans ringing those happy little bells and best of all, I give clothes. Don't tell, but I always buy my little girlfriends summer wear that is maybe a smidge too small. Because I'm not just giving a cute little outfit from banana republic, I'm giving them a little bit of motivation too, surprise! I don't want my friends running around like plump little squirrels just because no one is going to see them under all those layers. Very few people get to see me when I'm sleeping (wink) but I still comb and

Gala season is in full swing; the fashionable masses are decked out in floor-length gowns or well-tailored suits, flitting from one charity event to the next. The Aid for AIDS My Hero Gala falls squarely into this category and is very close to my heart. Many of us lost friends during the first wave of the crisis, when it went unspoken for too long. Putting together my book so80s reminded me how many friends had their candle extinguished too young.

My destination last night was Skylight Studios, which was hosting the 15th annual ARTWALK NY, one of the bigger fund-raisers of the year. ARTWALK NY benefits Coalition for the Homeless, an organization that feeds 3,500 hungry New Yorkers a day, among multiple other programs to help the city’s homeless. I have taken part in ARTWALK NY for years, and this time around I donated one of my favorite photos of Keith Haring. This photo is especially timely, as Shepard Fairey will be using it as inspiration for a print, with some proceeds going to the Keith Haring Foundation. He just did a wonderful piece with Glen E Friedman, and I have great expectations for his interpretation of my good friend Keith.

There are times in my life when I feel like I've died and gone to Louis Vuitton. For instance, back stage at Madonna; soaking in a mud bath, spritzers on the roof, you get it. It's similar to the concept of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (which isn't actually a food reference if you're scratching your head, it refers to more of an emotional state if you are yet to read the book) but better, because I came up with it. If I could spend eternity in the Louis Vuitton on Fifth Avenue I swear I would jump in front of the next car I saw. Well maybe not the first car. Something high-end of course, but not too bulky. If I'm going out I don't just want to get pummeled by a big, black Mercedes. I mean, a Mercedes ... Read More

I've worn white after Labor Day; I've ordered white wine with a steak, and red with a seared Chilean sea bass. Heck, I even went to midtown last week for happy hour. I mean, gasp! Can you imagine me in midtown?!  And I wasn't even lost. My friends, whom of course are also models, almost spat their appletinis all over the place when I told them that one. Midtown, God knows I wasn't there for the fashion tips, hair gel and pin stripes, party of everyone, OMG! Apparently I'm the only one these days not part of the Gambino crime family.

On December 1st a VIP Screening of "An Englishman in New York" invited some of NY's favorite Englishmen to enjoy the festivities. Quentin Crisp famously declared that if one could live on "peanuts and champagne," then one could survive quite easily by attending every cocktail party and premiere to which one was invited. To be sure, there was far more than "peanuts and champagne" at the intimate dinner/screening for Crisp's new made-for-television biopic "An Englishman in New York". Yet, the atmosphere of the Soho House's main dining room remained giddy with the spirit of the famed raconteur.

Hamish Bowles and Antony Todd

"I actually had Quentin Crisp over as a guest for dinner in 1986," event-planning maven Antony Todd told me. "A friend of mine advised me that, provided I sent over a car for him, he would be willing to come, so that's exactly what I did."

This year's Rita Hayworth Ball - "So Near & Yet so Far" - may have boasted performances by Roger Waters and The Pointer Sisters, but its post- fête at Leviev was all about the Gala's honorees - and, of course, the jewels.

When an event raises $1.9 million in one evening, what is there not to celebrate? On Monday, November 16th, an intimate group of friends that included Somers Farkas, Felicia Taylor, Rachel Hovnanian, Kim Hicks, Janna Bullock and Peter Lyden gathered at the Madison Avenue flagship to toast the Gala's chairs and honorees who spearheaded one of the season's most successful and glamorous evenings.

Among those honored for their outstanding contribution to the field of Alzheimer’s were: Muffie Potter Aston, who received the Rita Hayworth Award; Lonnie Wollin, Esq., who received the Lifetime Achievement Award; John, Margo, Andrea, and John Jr. Catsimatidis, who received the Family Philanthropy Award; Gala Chair Alexandra ... Sadly my friends, it is nearing that time of year when we say goodbye to the beautiful summer and fall months and accept the reality that is winter. No more daiquiris at the club, no more walks along the beach on warm Long Island nights and sadly, no more long drives to the Hamptons with the top down on my red Volkswagen Cabrio. Just last week I took him back to Huntington to retire for the season. It was almost like he cried the whole ride out. "I'm sorry boy", I said, "there's always next year." It's true, the flowers once again will bloom, the birds will come back to sing and every day will be an occasion for wine spritzers on the roof. I miss it already.

THE I MEAN…WHAT?!? BEST DRESSED OF THE EVENING AWARDS...AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS

Last week I started the Softer Side of “I Mean...What?!?” in an effort to show that I am multi-dimensional, have the ability to not only find the absurdities in life in the fast lane, but also can stop and admire those women who are über-fierce. Naturally, part of me would also like to highlight my picks for the worst-dressed, as well, but I will refrain…at least for now.

Last Sunday, the music industry came together to honor the best of American music. Really? Is that why they have this event? Or is it to just have another glamfest to shamelessly co-promote? Just read that the AMAs are more of a popularity contest than industry touchstone, as are the Grammy Awards. Either way, women get GaGa-ed and work the red carpet. Though I have been asked to limit to five images, I am hoping I can get away with showing one more. ... Read More
