The Junior League of the City of New York invited guests to join them in celebrating the 58th Annual Winter Ball on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Grand Ballroom in the Plaza Hotel (Central Park South & 5th Ave. NYC 10019, 212.759.3000). "A Winter Palace" welcomed guests for cocktails and a silent auction at 7pm before a dinner, awards presentation and live auction. A ceremony at Clodagh Designs (670 Broadway NYC 10012) was held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 to celebrate the appointment of Meera Gandhi as a Centenary Councillor for the UK's Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). The occasion was hosted by Philip Bonn, RNID's Centenary Director, who made a special trip to the US from England for the occasion. RNID is currently the UK's largest charity with many honorable partners. I guess the thing you learn during fashion week is how to appreciate the product of a designer's talent, creativity and vision... but it's a hard lesson to learn when your constantly being distracted by beautiful and interesting people. At La Perla's Fall 2010 presentation on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery, hauté couture was on display and haute coture looked damn good. For 2 hours, guests were treated to cocktails by Voli and Hall as they made their way about the room chatting and checking out the newest intimates. In addition to all the snow, New York is getting two Hermes firsts: a men's-only store in two locations (690 Madison Ave. NYC, 894 Lexington Ave NYC). The Stores will feature the brand's entire range of menswear as well as an entire floor devoted to custom and made-to-measure merchandise. The store is a follow up to the success of their financial district location, which opened last year that had a focus on menswear. On Monday, February 8, 2010, the "Tents Today, Home Tomorrow" campaign launched with a performance by Mary J Blige and Wyclef Jean. Yesterday, SoulCycle, New York's full-body indoor cycling workout center, opened its doors with a kick-off celebration at their Tribeca location (103 Warren St NYC, 212.406.1300). Charlie & Lauran Walk, Stacy O'Neil, John Penotti, Elizabeth Cutler, Julie Rice, Laurie Cole and Stacey Griffith welcomed guests to join them for its debut spin class and an introduction to the progressive studio. The modern space was packed with a fit group who were treated to fine hors d'oeuvres and cocktails following the session featuring a delectable selection of cheese and charcuterie.
