The NYC elite got together on the 19 the of february for a private screening of CHOW DOWN. Dressed up in anti fur pins and faux leather, a select few were gathered to be in the know. On Thursday, Feb 17th Joanna Mastroianni showed her Fall 2011 Collection in
the building of her West 30 something showroom. Possibly the most
well-executed show of the season, it is no surprise that Mastorianni showed
the final day of New York's famed Fashion Week.
The collection, inspired by iconic American Photographer Lillian Bassman, is
particularly exciting. Mastroianni focused on Lillian's fantastic black and
white photographs, many of them taken during her tenure at "Harpers Bazaar".
Mastroianni turned them into a glorious, glamorous, feminine collection of
one-of-a kind garments.
Carol Alt and
Iris Apfel
For the self-assured woman, who is "meticulously elegant", the collection is
comprised of classic black and white looks fused with vibrant metallics.
Standouts include a black double-faced wool dress with cut-out windows and
leather harness, a silver matte lycee draped cowl dress and a white draped
deep v-neck gown that
