A decorous evening of art and auction brought out many key voices, and paddles, to downtown’s Dream Hotel for Friends In Deed – Photographers for Friends 2014 Benefit and Auction, where several of today’s most influential photographers donated works for the charity auction. Hosted by co-chair Andy Cohen (Anderson Cooper being unable to attend), the auction managed to raise over $125K in proceeds for Cynthia O’Neal’s and Mike Nichols’ co-founded charity, Friends In Deed.

The photographs, ranging in all forms, from abstract and conceptual to still and portraiture, scenic and cultural, were beautifully exhibited in a collective harmony; allowing each its own respective frame of focus to appreciate and appraise. Some early favorites in the bidding were works by Stewart Shining, Brett Weston, Ed Ruscha and David Croland. At least that was until Mr. Cohen, upon entry, made evident his fancy for Flag by Jack ... Read More

Tonight marked the first public viewing of “a collaboration that will truly wow the world,” said Dienst + Dotter Antikviteter owner, Jill Dienst, whose NoHo based Scandinavian antiques and interiors gallery hosted renowned artist, friend and new found collaborator, Joseph Ari Aløi aka JK5, for Dienst + Dotter Antikviteter Host Book Launch for JK5 Sketches, Tattoos, Drawings, Paintings & Objects.

The undeniably talented (and charismatic) JK5 certainly tattooed his mark on the gallery, bringing his book title to life with several paintings, dozens of sketchbooks and objects, countless drawings, and many many tattoos as guests proudly displayed their JK5 pieces; but most importantly, on display were the freshly unveiled, and wildly creative, collaborative pieces between him and Mrs. Dienst.

The teaming of Mrs. Dienst and JK5 brings his trademark talents to a whole new canvas: that of Mrs. Dienst’s rarefied collection of Scandinavian objects. Mrs. Dienst offered up select ... Read More

High above the lights of Times Square, a collection of China’s most celebrated artists, aesthetes, appreciators, dealers and galleristas involved with The Armory’s China Focus sampled the midnight fruits of Manhattan for The Armory Show China Focus Celebration Party. Not a glass was left empty, nor a good moment wasted as The Skylark Lounge kept at capacity for the evening’s entirety with everyone late in the know lobbying for admittance in hopes of feting at the A-list art affair.

After a touch of confusion – or the execution of a classic club trick – the growing line patiently waiting at street level was ushered in; and rush to the roof they did – that is after the much coveted step-and-repeat press shots by Mr. McMullan were snapped. Once atop the 30th floor, guests found themselves comfortably nestled within the arms of the ultra-swanky midtown lounge and without any desire to leave. ... Read More

Freshly out the Carnegie Hall doors from the Max Raabe & Palast Orchester show, and all dressed to the nines, an eclectic collection of New York’s top stars and starmakers decorated the Viceroy Hotel’s Kingside Restaurant for the ultra-exclusive and hush-hush Julianna Margulies and Keith Lieberthal’s After Party Celebrating Max Raabe & Palast Orchester.

With tonight being Max Raabe & Palast Orchester’s first stop of their week long US Tour, and with them being Julianna Margulies and husband Keith Lieberthal’s newest fancy – as effusively proven on Julianna’s recent David Letterman appearance – Julianna and husband had to make wise their closest friends to Max Raabe’s music; and the old New York décor of Kingside proved the perfect setting to host the 1920’s German swing/dance revival group’s after party.

The room just hummed with such Gatsbian like revelry that you wouldn’t believe it was only a Monday night. Everywhere you looked you ... Read More
