It’s theater season, with openings happening left and right. Leslie Jordan’s My Trip Down the Pink Carpet will stand out as one of the most extravagant, with a certifiably bright-pink carpet in place of the usual red carpet.

I might be known as a party photographer, out all night shooting people enjoying themselves at the best parties New York has to offer. I do, however, shoot other things when the opportunity arises. Last night on the Lower East Side, the Box, usually known for its risqué shows, opened its space for the Somaly Mam Foundation’s launch of the Empowerment line of survivor-made products. The foundation is dedicated to pulling women and children out of sex slavery, and its efforts are currently concentrated in Southeast Asia. The space was packed; Box owners Simon and Francesca really know how to throw a party for just about anything.
