I am so glad I went to the breakfast for
“WOMEN, WAR & PEACE”, a series to be aired on five consecutive Tuesdays beginning October 11th on PBS. Check-in was 7AM, which is usually when I go to bed, so I just stayed up all night. I couldn’t take any chances because the UN was in session and EVERYONE was in town, so the security made any sort of travel to that area problematic. Because the breakfast was at
The Four Seasons restaurant, we were definitely in the area.
Of course, as is the norm in NYC, if you give yourself enough time, you have no problems and arrive painfully early. The streets and subways were overflowing with security, but no one was zoning in on me for a pat-down or bag check. I stood with all the photographers against the building next door, checking my cell to waste time. When I

It’s hard being beautiful…we’re always told. Though, for very good reason, we scoff at such a notion, when it comes to being taken seriously, well… Naturally, part of the reason beauties are dismissed is because it’s really difficult not to be petty when someone didn’t earn something that sets them apart from the pack…in a good way...bestowing attention and favors that those less blessed are never accorded. So, the gene pool giveth, and then the critics attempt to taketh away.
Beauty is often an easy target when dealing with movie actors. Whereas an “interesting” (nice word for unattractive) actor who has chops can create quite the lauded career by disappearing into character parts, those with dynamite looks often find it really difficult to hide their God-given glories. Because of that, they are usually relegated to just flashing their gorgeous grins and fluttering their fabulous eyes

If there have been two constants of late, they have been Jessica Chastain movies and rain. So, imagine my state of mind when I went to see ANOTHER Jessica Chastain release (I’ve seen at least three in the last month!) during ANOTHER downpour. And guess what the movie revolves around: A storm!
Good grief…
Nevertheless, “Take Shelter” is an extremely compelling and creepy apocalyptic-themed indie. It is definitely worth a viewing, even though I’ll be surprised if anyone actually checks it out. I’m not dissing the movie, by any means by saying that. The fault lies in the ridiculous cost of movie-going. Who can seriously blame people for mainly choosing visually stimulating superscope extravaganzas that don’t translate well to smaller screens? That said, “The Help” did beat the shit out of “Cowboys & Aliens”, which was, definitely, a much deserved anomaly. And guess who was

There I was, actually choosing bikes in the FRONT ROWS of my spin classes at
SoulCycle, when I decided that, maybe, I was ready for a new challenge. I was still sweating like a pig during every class and my body was still pleading for mercy somewhere around the middle of the second songs, but I guess I’m just more of a masochist than I care to believe…or more competitive. I’ve never felt competitive with others, but very much with myself. I mean, what’s the point of repetition if there’s something else, something MORE?
I decided to check out what are called SoulBands classes. That meant that I had to return to SoulCycle’s Tribeca location because the Union Square studio doesn’t have them. Though I love being only five minutes from Soul Union Square, it’s really just a 15 minute bike ride using the Waterfront Greenway
